ACT Scholarship
Alumni and former recipients of scholarships in the Office of Institutional Diversity, Arezou Taeed, Charles Orgbon, and Tifara Brown established the ACT Scholarship in the spring of 2019. The purpose of this scholarship is to assist students seeking to put their education into action by engaging in co-curricular experiences. The ACT Scholarship will be awarded in amounts ranging from $250 - $1,000.
Recipients of the ACT Scholarship will take what they learn in the classroom and actively apply it locally, regionally, nationally, or abroad. Some examples of co-curricular experiences include interning on Capitol Hill or at a nonprofit in another state, working or studying abroad, or participating in an academic or professional conference. Scholarship recipients are expected to share their knowledge and skills gained with their peers when they return to campus. They will also be expected to provide a one-page summary of their experience within 90 days of fund use.
The following criteria must be met to be considered for this award:
- Enrolled at the University of Georgia
- Degree-seeking undergraduate student
- Be in good academic standing (GPA of 2.0 or above)
- Demonstrate leadership qualities in community service, extracurricular and/or other activities

Black Alumni Scholarship
The Black Alumni Scholarship Fund provides a scholarship in the amount of $2,000 to a first-year student who exhibits dedication to racial equality through previous experience, initiative, and creativity in improving race relations in the community. This scholarship is renewable for up to three years, provided the student maintains a cumulative 3.0 GPA. Scholarship recipients will be stewarded by the Alumni Association and have expectations to:
- attend (or submit an update to) the UGA Board of Directors meeting annually
- attend (or submit an update to) the Black Alumni Leadership Council meeting annually
- participate in special events sponsored by the Alumni Association and UGA Black Alumni, where class schedule permits, throughout the academic year.
The following criteria must be met in order to be considered for the award:
- Admission to the University of Georgia
- U.S. citizen or permanent resident
- Enrolled full-time
- Degree-seeking First year student (Fall Semester)
- Demonstrated leadership qualities and ambition

Diversity Scholarship
The Office of Institutional Diversity awards need-based (as determined by financial aid) scholarships of $2,500, to first-year students. These scholarships are sponsored by the UGA Athletic Association to attract exceptional students to our university community.
Diversity Scholarship eligibility requirements are as follows:
- Admission to the University of Georgia
- U.S. citizen or permanent resident
- Enrolled full-time
- Degree-seeking First year student (Fall Semester)
- Demonstrated leadership in community service, extracurricular and/or other activities
- Consideration will be given to all students who have exhibited dedication to diversity in terms of race, gender, ethnicity, national origin or geographic representation
- Additionally, students must also satisfy at least two of the following conditions: (1) history of overcoming unique challenges; (2) first generation college student; (3) member of a low income family; (4) reside in a rural or inner-city location; (5) raised in a single parent household.
